Get Abid to ISTE 2020!

My name is Abid Patel and I'm the IT Director at the Leading Learning Trust in London. This June, I am hoping to attend the ISTE conference in Anaheim, California. I've been working in Education IT for over 15 years. I have a huge passion for sustainable EdTech in schools and I really want to help schools implement modern IT systems whilst tackling ever reducing budgets.

In July 2019, I was immensely fortunate to have been selected to attend the Google Certified Innovator academy in London. I can honestly say that the experience changed my life and changed me as a person. Where I was previously working with schools locally to me in London, the innovator program has given me the opportunity to work on a global scale. I now connect with educators around the world on a daily basis, sharing my passion and ideas on how schools all around the world can benefit from much needed digital transformation.

My Google Innovator project is to host an event called #ITjustworks, where I hope to help support schools to implement successful and sustainable digital strategies in their schools. I will be hosting this event in and around the UK in 2020. I have been approached by many educators who have expressed a real need for the event in the USA and so I want to go global and support schools all around the world.

I've been fortunate to be able to attend the Bett Show in London for the last 15 years and the valuable lessons I have learned, as well as the amazing people I have met, have really enabled me to be able to get to this point. With your support, I would now like to go global with my project and to help achieve this, I hope to attend the ISTE conference in Anaheim, California in June 2020 , where I will be able to raise awareness and build the connections I need to bring #ITjustworks to the USA and beyond!
