Gerardo & Maria's Roof

UPDATE:  As of October 12th, the current issues involving my parents' home involve the loss of their roof and severe damage to the interior of their home.  The furniture is a complete loss & isn't the issue, nor part of any donation drive.  The wooden floors are all warped, load bearing walls need to be worked on, other walls need to be replaced.  Not having a roof for a month during a rainy season has made recovery a tougher process BUT there is hope.  So far we have raised $5,000 & my parents are very grateful.  A few former coworkers/friends wanted me to keep the fund going, so I will.

As many of you know, my parents, Gerardo & Maria Colon, have spent their entire lives helping others.  It saddens me to see the home that they have spent 20 years renovating nearly destroyed.  They've also spent 30 plus years collecting antique furniture that they refurbished themselves, which was all completely ruined.   The floors are all warped and need replacing but that can all come later.  They need a roof ASAP.  The roof of their home came off completely during Hurricane Maria's passing through Puerto Rico.  My parents are too humble to ask for donations, even though they are the first ones to assist others.
