Georgina's Brain Surgery.

In January 2017 I discovered that I have a syrinx(cyst down my spinal cord). It is essentially destroying my spinal cord. So far I have seen two neurosurgeons in UC Davis.I have traveled down 3 times so far. Twice to meet with neurosurgeons and once for an additional MRI. The quality at Fairchild wasn't up to par with their machines. After having an MRI there they discovered that I in addition to my syrinx , I have what is called and Arnold Chairi malformation. This basically means that my skull didn't grow properly and the opening where the spinal cord goes is to small and is creating an abundance of pressure in my head. It is pinching nerves and hurting my whole body especially my neck and head. The surgery that we are potentially talking about will be to either remove a portion of my skull or create a hole to drain the fluid to release some pressure. We are expecting at least 3 more apointments before we make a desision. We have been getting assistance with motel and gas for the past 3 trips however, we have exhausted all of our resources. My husband and I are both full time students right now and I am in the process of applying for diasabilty.(the neurosurgeon recommended) it seems as though we have a long road ahead of us. I am currently awaiting the next referral which means my next apointment could,be anytime. The neurosurgeon recommended that I be seen by a pediatric neurosurgeon as soon as possible. I am not real sure what any of it means and I hate to ask for help but at this point I have run out of options. We appreciate and help offered.
