Juniper Needs Surgery
Donation protected
Hi there,
My name is Juniper. I am a 31 year old transgender woman living in Brighton, UK. I love music, cooking, swimming and dogs.
Living in Brighton has changed my life. This city has led me to a close knit community of LGBTQ+ friends, and has allowed me to be myself without fear of reprisal. That said, the inhibitive cost of living here is making it impossibly slow to save for the medical attention I have urgently needed for years.
I am saving for two gender-affirming surgeries that are not available to me through the NHS. Please excuse me keeping my description of the surgeries vague; asking strangers, friends & family alike for financial assistance is pretty embarrassing, and having to publicly explain explicit details about my body is moreso.
I plan to get these surgeries at a private hospital in Antwerp, Belgium, and at a Nuffield Health centre here in the UK. These surgeries would make an immeasurable difference to my physical & mental health, confidence and general quality of life. This would mean the difference between whether or not I can leave the house some days. On bad days, it would mean taking a shower comfortably. On good days, it would mean looking in the mirror and seeing a face that reflects my soul.
Saving for these procedures is a long process, and I am not expecting to be handed them or for the funds to be raised overnight. As well as your kind donations I am continuing to save as much as I can from my wages, will be organising benefit gigs in the city when it safe to do so, and may take out a loan (if I can get one) to cover the shortfall depending on how long fundraising does take.
If you can contribute, I would be eternally grateful. If you are not able to donate, or don’t want to, sharing this link with friends would still be appreciated.
Thank you for reading.
