As a proud member of the Georgia Metros Hall of Fame and have had the blessings of being able to play this game of basketball professionally for more than 9 years, fully equipped with a college education from the Virginia Commonwealth University.
However none of this would have been possible without the GA Metros. As a youth and the 4th of 8 children, my family and I didn't have money for extra curricular activities and club teams and travels. I was a little rough around the edges, big tattoos at age 15 on my arms and neck. But I wasn't judged, I wasnt excluded, and I was given the chance to play on one the premiere teams in the country with the likes of Maya Moore, Kelley Cain, and Jordan Greenleaf. I was given the opportunity to travel the country and have my first ever plane ride and increase my visibility where I was fortunate enough to be seen by hundreds of college programs. I received scholarship offers from a handful of programs including ACC and SEC programs. All because the Metros didn't say no because I couldn't afford the dues. The money came from the Metros and their supporters' pocket, and to the Metros I am forever in debt.
I am raising $20000 to cover cost for the summer of 2019 and support the next generation of young ladies who may not be able to afford to play, but just need a chance to be seen. They need a chance at a life for themselves and an education. For the next D. Moss's out there somewhere, I want to raise money for them! Costs cover travel expenses, uniforms and gear, food and leisure for a summer these girls will never forget. Because I can say, I never forgot my summer with the Metros either.
The GA Metros are the epitome of change and progress. For decades this organization has withstood the test of time and has continued to support the growth and equality of women. It is a first class organization. But money does not come in abundance when things have only gotten more expensive. Any amount helps. Thank you for supporting the GA Metros organization!
