George's Memorial Bench in John Leigh Park

Donation protected
As you are aware we lost our son George on the 12th November at just 18 years of age.

George went to school at Altrincham C of E which backs on to John Leigh park and loved this park.   He frequently played in the park after school.  As a toddler he loved the toddler play area and seeing the birds and guinea pigs in the pets corner.

He enjoyed activities in this park with Beavers, Cubs and Sunday School over the years.

When he went to secondary school his friends spent a lot of time in John Leigh park as it was close to his friend's Angels house and the last time he met his friends this year in August 2021 they went to John Leigh park.

George had a creative streak with a cheeky sense of humour which you can see in the many cartoon drawings he did of himself, our cat Toki and many other creatures he came up with and we would like to capture this in a fitting memorial to him in this park.

To do this we are raising funds for a chainsaw carved bench to go in John Leigh Park Altrincham in memory of George Edwards as somewhere his family and friends can visit and remember all the good times with George and his imagination and fun.

We would like to have a special bench commissioned incorporating George's cartoon characters to bring his creative creations to life and make it a special bench.

We have contacted Friends of John Leigh Park and also Trafford Council and plan to meet up with them in the new year to walk around the park and get agreement on what we can put in place for George with a view to having this installed by the Summer of 22.
