George and Harry's marathon for Cancer Charity.
On the 31st August, Harry and George Owen will be running a charity tag marathon in memory of our Grandma. We will be running 26.2miles at Saracens Rugby Club , Allianz Park and the distance/times will be measured by our grandfather Richie and our parents, Lucy and Stephen.
This year, on May 5th, our grandma, Susie, passed away from cancer aged 70. Susie was a woman of immense positivity, energy and determination. She was a huge part of our lives and we miss her greatly. For those who knew her, they would know that Susie was an inspiration and she radiated joy, always supporting and caring for her friends and family. Throughout the training process and in the run itself, we aim to make Susie proud, while enjoying and motivating ourselves in the way that she would have wanted us to do.
We are raising money for Chai Cancer Care. During Susie’s cancer treatment, she attended the Chai Cancer Care centre in Hendon, North London. Chai Cancer Care provides an extensive range of specialised support services that include counselling, (physical) therapy, and group and social activities. It is available for individuals, couples, families, friends, work colleagues, teens and children from as young as three. Susie found Chai to be a great support.
Susie was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, an admired teacher for decades, with an active lifestyle, walking, swimming and pilates regularly. Cancer is unforeseeable and devastating, affecting so many families. We wish to raise as much money as possible in order to benefit Chai cancer charity which provides such significant support and essential care to cancer patients and their relatives.
We are running in memory of our amazing Grandma, for her legacy and to aid Chai Cancer Care.
