Genna's Camp Breastie Fund: Supporting Survivors

Hi, my name is Genna. I'm 33 years old, BRCA2+, and a two-year survivor of breast cancer. I'm fundraising to go to Camp Breastie!

Camp Breastie is in Honesdale, Pennsylvania, from June 5-8. It is an annual four-day summit where 600 people impacted by breast and gynecologic cancer gather for community advocacy and education. It's a weekend rooted in information sharing and community cultivation.

I attended Camp Breastie in 2023 and 2024. Camp not only introduced me to some of my best friends (my breasties!) but also saved my life. I was able to attend panels with leading researchers, meet one-on-one with doctors who advocate for our healthcare coverage and connect with women who have lived in the breast and gynecologic cancer world alongside me. Most importantly, it gave me the opportunity to meet people my age who had been through similar situations. For the first time, I felt like I belonged in the breast cancer community!

This year, I'm also applying to be a cabin leader, which would mean I would be assigned five to ten other women in my cabin. I would ensure everyone has what they need, decorate the cabin, provide guidance throughout the weekend, and make the weekend special for them.

Registration for Camp Breastie costs $350 and provides an all-access pass to festivities—all meals, snacks, beverages, lodging, interactive panels, workshops, meetups and camp activities. This does not include travel costs.

As many of you know, my family has been heavily impacted by cancer. I found out I was BRCA2+ in 2018, and in 2022, I was diagnosed with DCIS in my left breast. My mom was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer three months before me, and my dad was recently diagnosed with kidney cancer.

I have used my social media platforms to educate others about breast cancer and the realities of survivorship. I'm excited to continue using my voice to educate and advocate for other young women like me.
