Genesys Works is #HoustonStrong

Among those hurting from Hurricane Harvey are members of our own Genesys Works family. As of today, we know of Genesys Works staff in Houston who have already lost their homes and belongings to flooding, or are awaiting rescue and evacuation. Unfortunately the damage is not yet done, and we don’t know the full extent of loss our community or the entire Texas and Louisiana communities will endure. And yet, amidst all of this, our staff is still dedicated to making sure all of our students and their families in the Houston-area are safe. Our Program Managers are assisting with neighborhood evacuations and our Curriculum Developers are volunteering at emergency shelters. Our staff has always been resilient, and in this time of massive loss, there is no exception.
 

For the Genesys Works staff living outside of Houston, we want to do everything we can to support them from afar. Our Houston staff and students are hurting as the storm continues to take its toll. Houston is the heart of our organization. In 2002 Genesys Works was founded there to make a lasting impact in the local community. And although we have expanded nationwide, Houston continues to be a special place for everyone at Genesys Works. Over 50 staff in Houston work to serve 100s of students every year from the Greater Houston Area.


Our hearts go out to them, and more than that, we’re asking our Genesys Works community - staff, alumni, friends - to consider donating to help our Houston staff recover and heal from this devastating storm.  All proceeds from this campaign will go directly to Genesys Works staff who are most impacted to address their immediate needs. We are a community that stands together, and we thank you for standing with us today.
