Geneil's mysterious medical crisis

My mom, Geneil, has been fighting an unknown illness that has caused respiratory distress and is in great need of support. She is a treasured mother of five and we are all concerned about her health.
Initially, she was diagnosed with severe bacterial pneumonia and she was treated with strong antibiotics, but after her condition worsened they became concerned that it might be a viral infection. She was taken to the ICU after she lost her ability to breathe, even with the aid of the oxygen tanks they had given her to take home. She arrived at the hospital in critical condition and remains in great respiratory stress, unable to maintain proper lung function without high flow oxygen therapy at 35 liters of oxygen per minute. Even with this constant support, she isn’t able to leave her bed.
She works 7 days a week at Estate Sales and one of her most recent jobs was clearing out a dirty, mice-infested barn. Given her symptoms, worsening condition, and exposure to mice feces, it is possible she has Hantavirus, a rare and life-threatening plague. They are running every possible test – she has had a bronchoscopy, an arterial blood gas test, a MRI, a Respiratory Viral Panel, CT scans, x-rays, and her blood drawn countless times; as of right now, none of the results have led to a conclusive diagnosis and her team of doctors is perplexed.
So far, she has missed 22 days of work (no PTO), with no timeline of when she will be able to return. The loss of income alone has caused great financial stress, in addition to the medical bills from the numerous tests and medications and an undetermined number of days in the ICU. Her focus should be on working through this illness and not on the stress of how she will be able to pay for her intensive treatment.
