My name is Caroline Bennett, Program Assistant, for the GEMS CC After-School Program in Columbus Ohio. I have the privilege of being able to work daily with some of the most gifted, socially empowered, internally motivated, holistically developed young people in the nation.
With a particular mission to serve middle school urban students, GEMS is hoping to send 22 students and mentors to New York City.
Here at GEMS CC we provide intentional learning experiences that empower our students to be change agents and ambassadors for peace, love and justice in the communities they live and serve.
While in New York we will visit The Apollo Theatre, Harlem Civil Rights Walking Tour, Medgar Evers College (HBCU), Brooklyn Museum, Ground Zero, Rockefeller Center/Times Square and an Underground Hip-Hop Tour of the Bronx. These experiences will foster imagination, discovery, critical life skills, growing independence, citizenship, and global and cultural awareness.
Many of our students come from the less fortunate side of the tracks and are in need of respite from everyday life which is why we thank you in advance for helping to make this dream come true.
Our goal is to raise $4,000.00 which will cover Lodging, Transportation, Gas, Tolls, Food & Activities. For inquiries on tax deductions please email [email redacted]
