Raising Money for School Supplies

The Mission 1:
Did you know that it only cost $100 for a child to go to school from 4th to 12th grade in Vietnam? Unlike the United States, many developing countries have to pay to educate their youth. With your help, I am hoping to raise enough money to supply a rural school in Vietnam with a full year of necessities for their students.
The Why:
As a little girl, my mom would tell me stories about how her parents could not afford to pay for her education and how she yearned to learn more. At the age of 8, she had to stop going to school because her parents could not afford it. I always felt lucky that I was able to go to school.
Growing up in the United States, we sometimes take for granted that our primary and secondary educations are free. Now years later and having become a teacher myself, I know how important it is to help foster the mind of our youth. Regardless of how cliché it may sound, I do believe that the children are our future; our future politicians, entrepreneurs, educators, writers and poets, but most importantly, the future adults who will be raising my children.
The Cost:
My goal is to raise at least $2500. The money will go towards books, school supplies, classroom updates and food for the children while I am there.
*Donated money will not go towards any of my travel accommodations.
Dates:
I will be in Vietnam from August 2nd to August 8/9th. If you happen to be in Asia or is interested in joining me, please let me know. The more the merrier!
Mission 2:
Since I was a little girl, I have always loved animals. From taking in strays to having different types like hamsters, cats, turtles, dogs, bunnies and even a piranha. This summer I wanted to devote my time in giving back. I will be in Cambodia volunteering at an elephant sanctuary. The sanctuary provides a safe home for retired elephants. I will be tending to the elephants’ need and restoring their habitat with in the sanctuary. If you are interested in joining me, I will be in Cambodia from July 20- July 27. All information is provided below.
