IAOR sports court and playground

Island Academy of Roatan was born 5 years ago, when a group of parents created a school that offered a US curriculum. They rented a hotel and remodeled it to create classrooms for grades Pre-k through high school. From there, they raised funds to purchase their US curriculum from Calvert for grades Pre-K through 8. They also researched online programs for their high school students and chose The Bridge School so students would receive Honduran and US diplomas. Their hard work paid off, students have gone on to several colleges in the United States and the school has continued to grow.
The parents that founded the school receive no income, all monies that are received by IAOR go directly to the operation and maintenance of the school. To help with capital improvements, we hold two fundraisers each year, a Halloween Carnival and a 5K race. We receive sponsorships for these events from local businesses on Roatan and from other schools in the US, including Cardinal Gibbons HS in North Carolina. In the past 5 years, we have been able to purchase our educational curriculum, a playground and computers. We have also painted the exterior of the building and the classrooms.
This year, we aimed high! We are expanding our current playground to include not only the equipment but also a basketball and volleyball court. IAOR believes that teamwork and school spirit help create a better community both on and off the court. When completed, our new courts will be open to the local community after school and on the weekends.
We are hoping to raise $10,000.00 to complete our sports court and playground. The land has been levelled and construction is underway. We would like to kindly ask you to donate to our goal to make our school a better place for both our students and the community.
