ISW in Guatemala!

My work is my life and everything else it secondary–that is a known fact about me. I am lucky enough to be able work at a place where I am surrounded by people who share this same passion. During my final semester of college I was still no sure what my future held for me, but the only thing I was certain about was that I wanted to work with children with special needs to provide them with anything and everything I could offer. But that all changed when my professor took us to visit It’s a Sensory World!. I instantly fell in love with the people and the atmosphere! I admired their learning foundations and their mission. Without further delay, I applied to be a summer intern and it was the best summer of my life. It was the beginning of this incredible journey I have been a part of and will hopefully will in the coming years. Now it is my goal to change the lives of students and teachers overseas.

Our mission in Guatemala is to not only give a voice to the children, but provide the teachers and nurses the tools to better care and communicate with these children; to grow as professionals, to offer love and support, and to show these children that they matter. 

There will be 12 of our It’s a Sensory World! team members travelling to Guatemala this coming summer. My individual goal is to raise $1,500. This will cover the plane ticket, room, and board. This will also allow us to create training materials, communication boards, and any other materials we may need.
