Gateway High School is the largest urban high school in the St. Louis area. As a product of St. Louis Public Schools, I know what it’s like to walk in the shoes of our students. I have walked the same hallways, and encountered some of the same challenges that our students face today. One of the things that I depended on in high school was sports. Through sports I learned values and life lessons that made me want to give back to my community.
Student Athletes in at risk communities and city schools are often left behind because our school system lacks the resources and equipment of other schools districts. Other area school districts have the luxury of additional athletic resources. These resources provide additional funding for coaches, equipment, uniforms, and provide additional support in areas needed. My goal is to give the athletic programs and student population the best opportunity to compete at the highest level and prepare and develop their future endeavors.
As coaches, we want what’s best for our athletes, and we want our athletes to compete on the same level as other elite schools in our area. Therefore, it is imperative that our students are given the best opportunities and resources that can be offered. The goal is to update and add some additional features in our weight room that hasn't been updated in over 30 years.
Your donation will make a huge difference in leveling the playing field for our athletes at Gateway High School , and may launch them on a path to compete in sports on a collegiate level.
