Gastro Bypass Surgery

I am morbidly obese and my situation is dire. Gastro bypass surgery is medically necessary for my condition. Traditional weight loss methods are not working.  I also have type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure. I can barely walk 50 feet before I lose energy and have to rest. This obesity has affected my life in so many horrible ways. After meeting with my doctor and the Bariatric Clinic at Memorial Hospital here in Jax, it has been determined that this surgery is what is needed to save my life.  

Unfortunately, after much research and pressing of the issue, my insurance company will not cover the surgery. The state of Florida does not mandate coverage for this type of surgical procedure. I have to raise most of the funds on my own.  The cost for the surgery itself is $15,000. Other related medical costs such as anesthesia and my overnight stay at the hospital following my operation will be roughly $5,000 which is why I set my goal at $20K.  

The surgery is set for Wednesday, August 30th.
