Gary Grillo Stage 4 Bone Cancer 7 Surgeries so far

Donation protected
I'm Vicki Lester-Smith. Gary and Wendy Grillo have been my friends for as long as I can remember. I'm raising funds for Gary's medical expenses and to help Wendy as his caretaker. That day in August of 2023 must have seemed like the worst day of Gary Grillo's life; the day he was diagnosed with stage 4 bone cancer. But the months that followed would see both he and his wife Wendy brought even lower. Of course he had already been unable to work due to the pain, and beginning in September there were the side effects of the cancer treatments. Just after Christmas he started chemo therapy and within days his pain increased dramatically; it turns out that he now had holes in his colon! He was then hospitalized for 14 days while he underwent seven separate surgeries to correct and repair the gangrene. He is home now, he will be continuing his cancer treatment as soon as the infection is fully healed. Meanwhile, Wendy has had to take leave from work in order to care for Gary. Their financial situation is dire at this time as medical expenses keep flooding in. They are currently selling family heirlooms to pay their bills. Please help! No amount is too small. Proceeds will go directly to Wendy so she can continue to care for Gary and keep their finances in order. Please help me to help them by sharing to your friends.

Update from Wendy on Garys condition 4/1/2024: Gary's condition has improved since moving home from the hospital in the last month. He is finally getting stronger daily, is walking slowly and is gaining some weight back. Now he needs to slowly get his muscles back. Thankfully I have been able to get back to work as Gary improves. We have been lucky to have care of a nurse and PT from Mt Evans Hospice since Gray came home from the hospital. They have been a Blessing teaching me how to take care of Gary while he recovered from the infection. We have been going to wound care weekly since the hospital, 1st with a wound vac and that was discontinued several weeks ago because the wound is finally almost healed. In the middle of this healing Gary got a tooth ache that required a root cannel and filling. Just what he needed, more expense and pain. :( We are expecting to be released from wound care really soon! We went to the oncologist last week on Friday and received good news: Gary's PSA is very low, and the cancer tumors have shrunk! The oncologist (who told us he doesn't get to give good news too often) said the shots and drugs are working so well at this time we do not need Kemo since Gary's body is responding to the drugs so well! The oncologist did schedule an MRI due to some new pain Gary mentioned. We want to make sure everything is ok currently. Thank you to all of you who have donated to our medical bills and helped us in so many ways. We are just getting many of the bills now. We are Blessed to have such good friends, family, neighors and doctors helping us through this rough patch.
