My name is Micah, I'm 18 years old and I was born and raised in Los Angeles California. I am an Orthodox gay Jew, a complicated life to say the least and have decided to take a year abroad to learn at the Pardes Institute of Jewish studies in Jerusalem to give me some clarity and strengthen my connection with G-d and Judaism.
Unfortunately, my parents, though extremely supportive of my decision lack the funds to pay for my school's tuition.
The good news is, that with the help of some generous donors, to date, we have raised over $15,000 to help pay for tuition, but it isn't enough. We still need to close a tuition gap of over $1,000.
Additionally, Pardes requires that we pay for our own food and other living expenses. This is why they ask their students to bring $5,000 of spending money.
I don't know what I will do if I can't raise the remaining funds and the goal is so close I can almost feel it. Please, if you can donate anything at all, please know that you will have my eternal gratitude.
