Gandalf's fight against fatal FIP

Our Gandalf is suspected of having Neurological Fip. Unfortunately, there is no way to get a 100% diagnosis of Neurological FIP. We have done bloodwork with our Vet during a routine checkup in late July 2022 and found his A:G level was 0.3, with inflammation in one eye and gums. Our vet recommended to take another test to see he had antibodies for FCoV, which unfortunately he did - at a very high titer. At this time he was not showing obvious symptoms of FIP. Our vet told us to not to rule out FIP and to monitor his condition. We received anti inflammitory medication. After these vet visits, Gandalf continued to play and eat.

During Mid August 2022 - Gandalf has been very lethargic and has not been active. He has developed ataxia. He is having trouble walking on his back legs. He can barely stand going in the litter box. It is heartbreaking to see his health deteriorate.

If left untreated, he will eventually have to cross over the rainbow bridge. FIP is a progressive disease that is nearly always fatal.

 

The treatment is unfortunately not cheap. The treatment estimates to cost almost 3000$ according to his current weight of 3.2kg.

This Gofundme will be used to gather funds for the treatment cost.

Gandalf was born July 10th, 2021 and only just turned 1. He is too young. We hoped to make memories for him for many years. We were not expecting to let him go so soon.

We hope to see him be himself again, and play to with his brother, Willhelm.
