Gambia Parliamentary Newsletter Project

The National Assembly is the bedrock and one of the most sacred institutions of any Democratic Society. Therefore, citizens must know what goes on in that institution and how it is run. When citizens are engaged to strengthen that institution and hold its members accountable, democracy starts to bear fruits.

In light of such an important project, journalists working with Gainako and Foroyaa initiated a monthly publication titled 'Gambia Parliamentary Newsletter' (GPN) to extensively cover the proceedings and operations of the National Assembly, including critical committee operations.

The project has secured initial startup funding from Diaspora Development Fund (DDF), organized by the Migration Sustainable Development Goals (MSDG) and GK Partners Global Limited, to publish ten editions as a start.

In that regard, The GPN will also focus on increasing the visibility of the newsletter by hosting monthly radio programs highlighting Parliamentary proceedings and educating the Gambian public about the functions of the National Assembly. And to highlight the performance of individual members and projects approved on behalf of the people

The GPN is therefore seeking ongoing support from Gambian citizens everywhere and friends of the Gambia who believes in strengthening democracy and government accountability. We think with your help; we can bring a new chapter to hold the government more transparent and accountable to the people. Your support is highly solicited to sustain such a significant venture...
