Gail Bussiere Uterine Cancer Fund

Gail Bussiere works as the nutrition service provider at Roy Gomm Elementary School. She has worked at Gomm for 4 years and it brings her great joy to work with students of all grades.
Unfortunately, this mid-May Gail started hemoraging and was rushed to the Emergency Room. Four days later, she had a biopsy done at her OBGYN where she was diagnosed with Uterine cancer, and it wasn't looking good. Her doctor, Dr. Lim, got her in right away so she could access her cancer. Gail was then told by Dr. Lim that she has Stage 3 out of 3 Uterine cancer and needed surgery ASAP; along with another biopsy.
On July 6th, Gail had a complete hysterectomy and removal of  some lymph nodes. On July 30th, Dr. Lim called with the results of the second biopsy. She continued to be Stage 3 out of 3 and the cancer is deep within her pelvic wall.
They then gave Gail 3 options for treatment. Option 1 is that she can do radtiation with 6 chemotherapy treatments. Option 2 is the doctors can go back in and take out all of her lymph nodes since they carry cancer throughout the body. Option 3 is to let her life run its course. Even with these three options, the cancer is sever and they can not guarantee anythng, which makes choosing a treatment plan extremely challenging.
Upcoming on August 9th, Gail will attend an appointment where she will make a final decision on which treatment plan she will endure.
Within 3 months, Gail's life has completely changed. Instead of taking summer break off to rest, she worked as part of the kitchen staff at Wild Island to help pay for her medical expenses. She will start on August 7th as the Kitchen Manager for her 4th year at Roy Gomm. While she is currently battling uterine cancer, she is still really looking forward to school starting. Gail loves working at Roy Gomm and said, "Getting back to work and seeing the students will help help me get my mind off all of this." Gail is also extremely grateful to be working along side her assistant Lori, who will help her with heavy lifting.
Gail is an incredible worker and has the kindest heart. The past 3 months have been overwhelming between the $45 a week doctors visits, costs of treatments, and having no sick leave during recovery periods. Her husband Mark is working 10 hours a day to help pay for her medical expenses, but with further treatments coming, it just isn't enough.
We are asking the community to please help Gail on her road to recovery so that she can get back her health and continue working at her favorite school, Roy Gomm.
