GAIA’S Enchanted Cat Forest……..Sao Vicente, Madeira Island, Portugal
This campaign is to help The Friends of 4 Patinhas fufill their DREAM.
The Friends of 4 Patinhas are advocates for the homeless, abused and abandoned cats on the Island´s North Coast…Their cat forest will be a safe haven, a refuge, a shelter, a sanctuary,a place of peace.
A DREAM worth pursuing, a blueprint of 4 Patinha’s purpose and potential.
The Friends of 4 Patinhas is a registered non profit association run entirely by a dedicated staff of volunteers, people from all walks of life that came together for one purpose, to prevent the suffering of pets and their offspring from ending up on the streets, or worse, being abandoned, abused or euthanised unlawfully (Murdered).
Currently, The Friends of 4 Patinhas is able to sustain a series of programs aimed at reducing the population of Feral cats through low or no cost neutering, provide emergency Veterenary care to injured ownerless animals, regular feedings of Feral cat colonies, plus promoting adoptions to loving homes.
With funds generated by their charity shop located in the village of São Vicente, as well as donations from individuals who want to confront cruelty worldwide, The Friends of 4 Patinhas has become a force in their North Coast community.
Last year, while caring for a homeless and abused cat found on the side of the road near death, suffering from a gunshot wound that shattered her pelvis and left her paralyzed , 4 Pats DREAM was born…. They realized that without their own shelter, coping with situations this dire would put their limited resources in jeopardy, limiting their ability to function properly….They named the cat GAIA, Mother Earth.
Sadly,even after months of patience, vet care and rehabilitation, Gaia lost her battle, unable to regain her mobility…despite having suffered such agonizing cruelty, she remained loving, loyal and affectionate to the very end of her little life.
Their DREAM is divided into three phases…purchasing land, preferably in the forested mountainous region of the island, building a modern state of the art shelter and finally, outfitting the shelter with a vet clinic, individual stress free elevated enclosures for elderly, injured or diseased cats… small room housing for cat social-cats, groups or healthy individuals, as well as a coated wire exterior enclosures where hardy feral cats can roam freely in the forest primeval and finally and most imortantly, an adoption center.
In Madeira Island, Portugal, on top of a rugged North Coast mountain far above the clouds, exists such an enchanted forest primeival ...there is such a forest being offered for sale.
A magical place, where the paths are defined by generations of old stately fir trees that create the ambiance of a natural cathederal like structure… so imposing that when exploring its abundance of wild flowers, berries and fauna, you find yourself wispering to your companions, not wanting to disturb the peace that permiates the cool mountain air.
If 50,000 cat lovers each sent 4 Patinhas 1€,they would be able to secure the forest and create this magical place....the first phase of their dream would become a reality.
