Acute meyloid leukemia also known as (AML) is affecting many people including my sweet eight year old nephew Gabriel.
What was thought to be a black eye turned into be a tumor behind his eye that the doctors confirmed to be AML.
Acute meaning it is fast acting and can be dangerous if not treated immediately. Within a week of his diagnosis Gabriel has been transferred to St. Jude hospital in Tennessee and has started chemotherapy.
Gabriel has always been happy, healthy, and rarely sick. He is the sweetest and smartest little boy and is always thinking of others. There are no words to describe what his mother and my nephew are going through, but even when we need to be strong for him his strength and bravery shine brighter than the sun itself. Gabriel has been in high spirits and making the best of his situation.
Because this is so unexpected his mother will need help and support. She loves like no other and has a huge heart. She will be forced to quit her job so she can be by his side and she wouldn't have it any other way, as long as he knows she will be there no matter what and that he is more important than any materialistic thing this world has to offer. Gabriel and his mother are two of the strongest people I know but they will not be able to do this alone. She will need all the help and prayers she can get. Please pray for Gabriel to continue to have strength through the rough journey he has ahead of him.
