Gabriel Papik Memorial Fund

On September 25, 2018 our dear friend Mary Basmadjian’s grandfather, Gabriel Alibalian, passed away. Mary was his sole care provider and support system since her teenage years. Despite personal and financial hardships of her own, Mary stepped up to care for her elderly grandparents when no one else would. A tremendous responsibility for a young person. And into adulthood, through building a career, she was their rock.


From buying her grandpa and grandma groceries every week to driving them to doctor’s appointments, the love and devotion Mary showed her grandparents over the years, and especially to Gabriel Papik during his final days, is the mark of a truly selfless person. She performed the duties of a loving granddaughter by herself and with no expectations in return, without a need for recognition. Simply put, because she’s Mary.


Understandably, Mary is left to manage costs associated with the funeral arrangements, in addition to being her grandmother’s guardian. By starting the Gabriel Papik Memorial Fund, our goal is to offer Mary and her grandmother some financial assistance and peace of mind during this difficult time.


To all who know Mary — whether you’re a friend or a fan — join us in supporting her. She’s brought joy and laughter to us all through the years, and now it’s our turn to show up for our Funny Armenian Girl.
