Emma's Hope

Emma is the 3 year old daughter of Chastity and Freddie Hinson of Lyons, GA. Emma is a very energetic, whitty, Daddy's girl, who loves to fish, loves barbie dolls, loves dancing, and spending time with her older brother and sister. On December 6, 2017, Emma began vomitting and complaining of a stomach ache. Her mother then noticied a lump in her abdomen. She went to her PCP and was sent for a STAT ultrasound. The ultrasound was inconclusive so they were sent home that night and set up for a CT scan the next day.  The CT scan showed a mass in Emma's abdomen. They were then sent straight to Memorial Hospital in Savannah, GA to be direct admitted to the Pediatric Oncology floor. Once in Savannah, the Doctors told Emma's parents that they were pretty certain that they were dealing with Neuroblastoma. Neuroblastoma is a cancer often found in the small glands on top of the kidneys (adrenal glands). It can develop in the belly, chest, neck, pelvis, and bones. Children ages five or younger are most commonly affected. At this time, they were also told that surgery is not an option because the tumor is wrapped around a main artery. A biopsy has been done and Emma is going today (12/13/2017) for a MIGB scan of her entire body and a CT scan of her lungs to see what stage Neuroblastoma she is facing.  Once this is determined, it is hopeful that Emma will be able to go to Cincinnanti Children's Hospital in Cincinnati, OH, which is the leading hospital in the US for treating Neuroblastoma. Chastity is a nurse with us here at CHSGa Home Health and Affinis Hospice. She is a very compassionate nurse who is dedicated to helping others. She is always willing to go above and beyond to make sure her patients are taken care of. Due to the circumstances with Emma at this time, Chastity and Freddie will both be out of work to ensure Emma receives the best health care treatment while spending as much quality time with her as possible. Any contribution that you can make will be used to help with medical bills, gas, food, lodging, and household expenses during this difficult time.
