Hello, I am Judy Bush, and have been struggling lately with a mental illness for many years but only recently has been treated. I have major depressive disorder and I have attempted suicide on on more than one occasion. All of this happened after I obtained both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. Since being diagnosed I have been educating myself and I understand some of the how’s and why’s so that I can be more functioning and productive. I do volunteer because it is important to me and helps mey forget put the negativity in pesrpective for awhile.
Right now I am struggling both physically, financially, emotionally, and mentally. I have pets but am now faced with a decision to place them up for adoption. They are not young. My dog is roughly 11 years old and my cats are 10 and 11 years old. My dog needs medicine for her old dog problems. I am asking for them so that they can stay with me until I get back up on my feet. I have been a volunteer with an animal shelter in the past and I can tell you from first-hand experience that surrendering an elderly pet to an animal shelter is the worst thing it. A gift card to PetSmart is a great idea and it can help me pay for food and litter. I get back on my feet I plan to pay it forward.
My unemployment benefits have exhausted and I am now behind on my rent and utility bills. I have had my phone shut off. I have been looking for a job with no success. I have applied for public assistance and am now receiving food stamps and medical assistance. The Medicaid does not kick in until November 1, 2014. I have been without my medication now for almost two weeks. I need medication and therapy to stay alive and functioning! I also need my medication tweaked so that I can better manage life. I have been without therapy for almost 1.5 years. I have some physical limitations due to two herniated disks in my spine, spinal stenosis, and nerve damage. For the past two – three months I have been experiencing severe leg pain due to the nerve damage. I am unable to stand or walk for any longer then 20-30 minutes.
Financially, I am asking for help with getting my phone turned on, utility bill, and future rent and the basic neccessities. Getting my phone turned on is very important for job hunting. I use the internet at my local public library where I am also a volunteer. A gift card to Walmart would be great. I have already had a judgment against me for non-payment of rent and fortunately there are programs that can help with back rent. I am investigating all avenues but the immediate needs are all-consuming and I am unable to keep myself afloat.
Would you be willing to help me out temporarily so that I can get back on my feet? If you can, I would really appreciate it.
