We're creating a Go Fund Me page for a very dear friend of mine, Erin musher. Erin and I have been friends for about 10 years now and I couldn't feel more blessed to have such an amazing person to call my friend. Erin is a specialty medical technologist; Medical technologists, also known as clinical laboratory technologists, perform and analyze the results of complex scientific tests on blood and bodily fluids. These highly trained professionals work in hospitals and independent laboratories using sophisticated procedures and equipment.
She is also a loving and devoted wife to another dear friend of mine, Paulie, who has been a rock and sunshine in such dark times in her life. Erin is a mother of two beautiful girls who mean the world to her, Kyra(15 years old) and Ava (11 years old). Unfortunately, she has been fighting cancer for the past five years, but is finally allowing us to create this to help lighten the load she's been given to bear.
Five years ago, in 2012, Erin, her family and everyone who loves her were devistated to hear she was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer. I'll never forget the diagnosis, my heart sank, I wanted to scream and cry, but here she was with the worst news she had ever recieved, strong and ready to fight. This girl wasnt giving up, so now it was time to back her and learn from her strength. They treated this round with a Semicolectomy and chemotherapy and had positive thoughts for success! Granted, we were wrong but she didn't let that get her down. Scans in 2013 showed that it had spread, now she had a metastasis of the liver and it was time for a liver resection. After a daunting healing process, she was doing great! She went into remission until 2015, we even threw a HUGE party in honor of her beating it! She was thankful, greatful, loving life and so hopeful, it was a beautiful moment that I look forward to seeing again.
Unfortunately though, in 2015 they discovered a large tumor by her right ovary. Erin, being the amazingly strong human that she is, handled the news with such grace. If you ask her she will say otherwise but she has given me strength in my life just by witnessing hers, and I know I'm not the only one. At this point she had one more surgery in September 2015 and has been on chemotherapy since October 2015. Chemotherapy got so hard for her this time. Physically almost killed her, it was terrible to watch and without being able to do anything to help. They switched chemo a couple times, and they weren't working either so they tried a clynical trial. That had the same results. Now shes is on a life prolonging oral chemotherapy while she waits for another clynical trial that may help her.
To be fair, it took me years to convince this girl to let us make this page for her. She's strong, independant, proud and really wanted to do this on her own with the help of her loving husband. Shes taken on not only this illness but the financial burdens that come with missing work due to the sickness( yes shes worked through all of this), outrageous medical bills from the thousands of procedures and medications, on top of daily life struggles that we all face every day. I need your help. Her husband works himself into the ground to provide and keep them afloat, while erin is working when she should be healing just to make ends meet.
