Georgia's Journey

A few months ago Gee was diagnosed with a very rare form of ovarian cancer, she is one of three with this particular diagnosis and is the youngest woman presenting with these cells.

Since October Georgia has spent a large amount of time in the RHH, away from her home and friends on the North West coast, she has undergone 3 major emergency surgeries removing one of her ovaries and both her lymph nodes.

The unpredictable behaviour of these cancer cells remains a mystery to many health professionals who are studying Georgia’s case. While professional support is available to Georgia, the financial strain of fighting this will remain an uphill battle, emotionally and financially for herself and Tom in the upcoming months.

Georgia is unable to work and currently does not have the capacity to run her much loved clothing cupboard side gig.  Tom is taking unpaid carer’s leave to stay at home and support Georgia.

For now, this money will make sure they can stay afloat and afford their loan repayments alongside Georgia’s treatment and medication.

Georgia is as determined as always, and once she beats this, her and Tom hope to create a family and will need the emotional and financial support to undergo IVF.

We want nothing more than for Georgia to be happy and healthy. She always puts her friends and her community first and works hard for what she believes in. This little, but fiery ray of sunshine makes the world a better place, she dreams big and fights hard and now we have to do the same for her.
