Help to support through illness

Hi everyone,

This past year has been one of the hardest of my life. Since last June, I’ve been in and out of the hospital with intense back pain, going through test after test. After eight months, they finally did an MRI and found a cyst on my spine.

Last Sunday, Louise had to call 999 because we thought I was having a stroke—my whole left side was spasming, I lost control of my arms and legs, and my speech was slurred. I’ve now been in the hospital for a week because the cyst is pressing on my spine, putting pressure on my nerves and leaving me unable to function. It feels like a constant pinching of my spinal cord, like a red-hot marble in my back, with burning pain shooting up and down my spine and arms.

Neurosurgeons are still deciding on the next steps—either surgery to remove the cyst or a permanent shunt to drain the fluid. Either way, I’ll be in the hospital for a while. I feel so isolated and alone, unable to see my kids, go to work, or even sit up long enough to have visitors. The hardest part is seeing my kids cry because they can’t see me.

My partner, Louise, has been incredible, coming to see me almost every day, but it’s taking a toll. Most of my family is in Peterborough or Blackpool, so I have no one nearby. Since I’m the only one who drives, Louise is spending £30 a day on taxis, plus covering food, clothes, and essentials for me.

I’ve never asked for help before, but right now, I have no choice. With no income, our bills are piling up, and soon, Louise won’t be able to afford to visit or bring me what I need. I hate putting my personal life out there, but we’re struggling, and without help, I’ll be stuck here alone, with no clean clothes and no way to get through this without falling into massive debt.

If you can spare anything, we’d be forever grateful. We always donate when we see others in need, and now, we’re the ones asking for help. I’ve set up this page to raise £750 to help us through this. Every little bit helps, and even just sharing this post means the world.

Thank you so much for your kindness and support.

With love,
Enya ❤️
