First Gen off to UC- Davis School of Medicine

My sister (Giovanna Paola Sanchez) is a first generation college student. She got accepted to join UC-Davis School Of Medicine Post Baccalaureate Program! She is not only a first generation college student but as well a DACA student. This acceptance to UC Davis means everything to our family but we need some help with paying her school expenses! Due to her committing to be a full time student she will not be able to have a job out there and we will need all the help we can get to be able to have her studying 6 hrs away from home.
My parents are full time workers but with 3 college students this fall, this will not be easy financially on us. My parents have gave us the world and work harder than anyone we know. So I hope this gofundme could help my parents a bit! i don’t intend reaching the goal of $14000 but my goal is to help my parents as much in paying for her tuition. thank you in advance ❤️❤️❤️❤️

“In the last few years I have become more comfortable with sharing my story:

I am undocumented. I was born in Mexico and my parents made one of the most selfless acts and that was leaving their home country and starting a new life with one goal and that was to give my family and I the opportunity to achieve The American Dream.

I aspire to become a physician. Due to my status, I did not have the opportunity of having a pediatrician or a primary care physician. Even so I was fortunate enough to be exposed the beauty of medicine through my siblings pediatrician interest in my wellbeing. Growing up I experienced the disparities spanish speaking families faced when going to the doctors office as I served as the family interpreter from a early age to this day.

My pathway to higher education has not been easy, but as the saying goes “nothing worth having ever comes easy”.
Through DACA I have been given the opportunity to have legal work authorization and this has given me the opportunity to work at Antelope Valley’s Hospital - Emergency Department where I have been able to immerse myself in knowledge about patient care as I get to see firsthand how my providers advocate for our patients well being.

Through DACA I was able to transfer to a four year university where I obtained my B.S. in Biology from UC Riverside and have now been accepted to UC Davis’s School of Medicine Postbaccalaureate 2019-2020 Cohort!
Though I am the first in my family to pave this pathway to higher education and medicine, I have not done this alone. My family and friends have been my biggest support system and it has been because of them that I have been able to carry on.

My mission is to bridge these barriers and serve others above self. Which is why I strive to be a compassionate, self motivated, accountable and culturally- component physician whose passion is to serve both the served and underserved communities: in the land of opportunity.”
