My cousin, Ruben Chavez, and his wife, Evelyn, were tragically taken from us in a heartbreaking act of violence. They leave behind nine children whose lives have been forever changed. Three of the youngest children were present at the time of the tragedy and will carry the trauma of that day for the rest of their lives. Among their children is their baby boy, Ruben Jr., who is only three months old. He will sadly grow up never knowing the love, warmth, and guidance of his parents.
Ruben and Jasmine were a young married couple with big dreams and hopes for their future and for their family. Their sudden loss has devastated our entire family. Our hearts ache for all nine of their children, who will miss their parents more than words can express. As we come together to grieve this unimaginable loss, we are also committed to honoring Ruben and Jasmine’s memory by ensuring their children receive the care, stability, and support they need to heal and move forward.
We are raising funds to help cover funeral expenses and to support their children, especially the youngest ones, who will need extra care, love, and resources in the days and years ahead.
