Funeral Services for Robert Overton Jr.

Donation protected
As many of you know, my brother, Robert Overton Jr. (Bobby) has remained strong in his battle with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and has endured many hardships over the past year, all with a smile on his face and hope in his heart. But on New Years Day, his health took a turn for the worse and he was admitted to the hospital.

Over the next few days, the doctors were still hopeful of his progress and transferred him to a rehab unit on January 4th to build his strength before his bone marrow transplant. Unfortunately before the transplant could occur, he was rushed back to the hospital on January 16th and immediately placed on a ventilator.

Due to the position of the tumors in his abdominal cavity, he has been unable to absorb nutrition from his food and has become very weak. The tumors have become necrotic, but because of their innervation with his veins, they cannot be surgically removed. The doctors also believe a weak spot in his intestines has burst and is slowly causing a septic infection in his blood stream. Feeding tube placement has also been ruled out. The doctors have said there is nothing more they can do.

At this time, the ventilator has been removed and he is currently breathing on his own, but he is unable to speak. He is being kept on Comfort Care protocols to make sure he isn’t in any pain and he is surrounded with the love of his family by his side. We know he can still hear us and we are making sure he knows that he is so very loved. His faith in God was instrumental in his battle and helped him every step of the way and we know he has a beautiful journey ahead of him still.  Bobby passed on at 11:28pm, January 20th.

As the main caregiver for our mother, the little bit of money he received each month went toward their living expenses and her care. With the loss of our father just four years ago, the family is unable to afford his final funeral and memorial expenses.

We would like to be able to afford a full funeral with burial but if not, Bobby was comfortable with cremation as an option. Typical cremation services in this area are around $5000.00 and funeral expenses can top $20,000+.

We would be so grateful for any financial help we receive to reach either goal so we can provide him with the memorial service he deserves.
