For: Stephanie Baker and Sylas Jabari

Hello, my name is Matthew Thompson, husband of Dr. Tara Thompson, Lead Doctor of Brunswick Animal Hospital. On behalf of Stephanie's family and the Brunswick Animal Hospital family, we are reaching out to our families, friends, and community to assist with funeral expenses (ceremony, staffing, car services, printed material, etc.), burial costs, flowers, food, and more. That said, if goals start to get met on the site, the additional support will go to her two living sons’ future expenses, with consideration to further education. Stephanie's mother, Debbie Baker, will be the beneficiary of this account.

Dear friends, family, and community,

It is with a heavy heart that I am announcing the death of Stephanie Baker and her new born Sylas Jabari. Stephanie was 31 years old. She and Sylas passed due to COVID-19 at New Hanover Hospital. Sylas was born on Thursday, January 27th, and passed away on Friday, January 28th, 2022. Stephanie had passed away on Sunday, January 30th, 2022. Stephanie's mother wants you to know "that her body was too tired and sick to stay here on this earth, that she had to go to her heavenly home and be there for her son Sylas. That covid during pregnancy is awful, and deadly, just like you read and hear in the news!" Stephanie's family and the twin’s father, Uriah Wilson, will attempt to put the pieces together after this tragedy, and to offer both her surviving sons, Julian (Age 4) and Sage (Born, 1/27/2022), a future that continues Sylas and Stephanie's legacy.

Stephanie was a shooting star. As a member of Brunswick Animal Hospital for almost 4 years, you would see her at the front desk as a Veterinary Customer Service Representative. She was the kindest, gentlest, and most positive person among the staff. Her work ethic was second to none, and her "Can-Do" attitude was witnessed not only here, but throughout her life. So much so that she had been doing school to be a Registered Veterinary Technician, where she was soon going to be in the room with our clients. Like a shooting star, it's heart wrenching that as soon as we witnessed her greatness, her smile, and her love, the light settled past the horizon. Stephanie was the best of us and a role model that we inspired to be like. She is gone, but her legacy will forever live on, as she will never be forgotten.

We want to send our sincere condolences to all her family who reaches from here and all the way to Canada. To her friends and colleagues. To the Ocean Isle Veterinary Hospital, where Stephanie worked for what we believe was 8 years. To the Shallotte Police Department, to where Uriah is an Officer and is sworn to protect our community. To our Shallotte community, where Stephanie was a Graduate of West Brunswick High School in 2008.

We thank you all for your love, support through donations here, and prayers. Stephanie's family wants you to know this is so we continue the legacy of her two sons, and our hope is they will never need anything.
