Support for the Mantilla Contreras family

Words from Andrea Contreras, Juan's wife:

In 2019, my husband Juan and I decided to migrate to Canada in the hope of fulfilling big dreams. Migrating is not easy, but I did it with the love of my life, my support, my colleague, my partner, and my friend, which made everything possible.

Little by little we settled in Canada and achieved our first dream: We got pregnant, Meghan was coming into our lives!! However, a few days before her birth, my husband and I caught COVID-19, and during quarantine, I had to go to the hospital to give birth. Upon returning home, my husband had to go to the hospital, because his symptoms were getting worse.

Every day since my husband was hospitalized, I saw him fight for his recovery, but the plan did not turn out the way we expected. After Covid-19, his body was weakened and various complications prevented his recovery. Although he fought to the end, my husband passed away on October 20, leaving a huge void in the lives of his friends, family, and us.

Meghan has become my motivation and the source of my strength to endure such great pain: she, our daughter, is the best gift my husband could give me. We want to honor his memory and say goodbye to such a wonderful human being, but we were not prepared for this, nor the cost involved.

The funds collected will be used to cover Juan's funeral expenses, and if there are surpluses, the remaining funds will be used to support our baby’s expenses.

From the bottom of my heart: Thank you all very much for your collaboration, and may everything you give be returned multiplied.
