If a soldier dies in battle, his/her burial benefits are $2,100. When a veteran dies in the battle of PTSD, they are given $300 and a flag. When they present the flag, someone says "on behalf of a grateful nation". Where is the gratitude when when they are only given $300 for a funeral at the cheapest is $1900? Why does a "grateful nation" not recognize that mental illness is more deadly then combat?
The veteran survived the battle overseas but 22 a day loose the battle of PTSD. We as a society at least owe for those to get the funeral they and their families deserve.
Please help me, help those that I call brothers and sisters. If you cannot give, please pray. Pray for a nation to truly be grateful for the service of a veteran. Pray for the families that just found out the true cost of a funeral and have to decide whether or not to claim the body due to financial hardship.
Soldiers and veterans have paid for freedom though their blood, service, and duty to country. Please use the treasure's you have to bury them in peace.
To my brothers and sisters who have fallen, til Valhalla and rest easy. I am here to relieve you of your watch. I will not leave my post until properly relieved. I will obey my orders I pledged my God, Family and Country.
