On Saturday, October 10th the world got a little darker as beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, Rosaura Rivas Killinger, was taken unexpectedly and way too soon. She was 35.

Rosaura was a kind and generous individual. She was loyal to her family and friends and loved fiercely. She loved all of her babies: turtles, plants, nieces, nephews and her own pride and joy: Mila and Corbin. Born to Jose and Maria Rivas on August 22, 1985, she has a twin sister, Ana and four brothers: Rene, Lalo, Edgar, and Urban. She began teaching at David Douglas Daycare shortly after high school where she was loved by her coworkers and her students. In 2007 she met Robert Killinger through a mutual friend; they started their happily ever after and were married four years later, on November 19, 2011. This year would have been their 9th wedding anniversary. On July 14, 2013 she would become a mother for the first time - Princess Mila was born. Five years later, on August 23, 2018, her baby boy, Corbin, would join the family. She loved her family more than anything.
Rosaura fue una persona amable y generosa. Era leal a su familia y amigos y amaba con fiereza. Amaba a todos sus bebés: tortugas, plantas, sobrinas, sobrinos y su propio orgullo y alegría: Mila y Corbin. Sus padres son José y María Rivas el 22 de agosto de 1985, tiene una hermana gemela, Ana y cuatro hermanos: René, Lalo, Edgar y Urban. Comenzó a enseñar en la guardería David Douglas poco después de la preparatoria, donde sus compañeros de trabajo y estudiantes la amaban. En el 2007 conoció a Robert Killinger a través de un amigo en común; empezaron su felices para siempre y se casaron cuatro años después, el 19 de noviembre de 2011. Este año habría sido su noveno aniversario de bodas. El 14 de julio de 2013 se convertiría en madre por primera vez: nació la princesa Mila. Dos años después, el 23 de agosto de 2018, su bebé, Corbin, se uniría a la familia. Amaba a su familia más que a nada.
In September of 2019, Rosaura was diagnosed with Inflammatory Breast cancer, a rare and aggressive cancer. After successful chemo treatments the cancer seemed to be staying at bay. On July 27th, 2020, Rosaura was rushed to the hospital after having a seizure. After a brain scan it was discovered the cancer had moved and multiplied to her brain. She started receiving daily radiation and steroids to combat the tumors and their side effects. One or more tumors were pressing on her optic nerve, causing double vision and she struggled to walk on her own and had to use a walker and cane for support. On September 21st, 2020 she received fantastic news that the tumors in her brain had shrunk and there weren’t any new ones. Lots of happy tears were shed that day and we were hopeful for more time with Rosaura. On Friday, October 9th, Rosaura would be admitted to the hospital due to shortness of breath. After receiving treatment for several concerns and showing improvement in her breathing, she was discharged on Saturday. Upon arriving home, her breathing worsened rapidly, and she was rushed to the hospital. Sadly, she was unable to recover from several blood clots in her lungs and passed away.
En septiembre de 2019, a Rosaura se le diagnosticó cáncer de mama inflamatorio, un cáncer poco común y agresivo. Después de tratamientos de quimioterapia exitosos, el cáncer parecía estar a raya. El 27 de julio de 2020, Rosaura fue trasladada de urgencia al hospital luego de sufrir una convulsión. Después de un escáner cerebral, se descubrió que el cáncer se había movido y se había multiplicado en su cerebro. Comenzó a recibir radiación diaria y esteroides para combatir los tumores y sus efectos secundarios. Uno o más tumores estaban presionando su nervio óptico, causando visión doble y le era difícil caminar por sí misma y tuvo que usar una andadera y un bastón como apoyo. El 21 de septiembre de 2020 recibió una fantástica noticia de que los tumores en su cerebro se habían reducido y no había ninguno nuevo. Rosaura was a fierce fighter. All those who knew her were inspired regularly by her unwavering determination. Even during the fight of her life, she continued to be a cheerleader for everyone she loved. She had bad days of course, but she never let it control her and focused her energy on the positive. She was an amazing soul and she now lives on in all of those that she touched with her love and care.
Rosaura fue una luchadora aguerrida y valiente. Todos los que la conocieron se sintieron inspirados regularmente por su determinación inquebrantable. Incluso durante la pelea de su vida, continuó siendo una porrista para todos los que amaba. Tuvo días malos, por supuesto, pero nunca dejó que eso la controlara y enfocó su energía en lo positivo.
