With a heavy heart, I set up a GoFundMe for my friend John Hoy.
Tragically John's mother's life ended abruptly yesterday after she was murdered.
Mary had opened her home to a youth in need. A young teen that needed help getting back on his feet and changing his life. He had been homeless at the time she befriended him. Even though she had been very sick herself, she selflessly wanted to continue to help others. Unfortunately, he wasn't keeping to their agreement and Mary had to ask him to leave. Sadly, he didn't handle that well and returned to her home with the intentions of hurting her. Mary passed away from her injuries before anyone could arrive to perform life saving measures.
We are humbly asking for any donation to help with the funeral expenses. John would like to have a funeral for his mother so that family and friends can celebrate her life. Mary had asked to be cremated and for her ashes to be spread in a couple different places. Florida being one of those locations with most of her family there. All donations raised with help cover the services for Mary, cremation and for John to take her ashes to the locations his mom wanted to be scattered.
If you are not able to donate, I ask that you please say a prayer for John & his family. It's hard enough to lose a parent but it hits harder when they were murdered.
