On Thursday afternoon of October 22, 2020 at approximately 3:40 PM, there was a shooting at Seasons Park on Harris Rd in Bakersfield CA. BPD notified our family of the incident Thursday night when only his car was found at the park. Although there was one victim, no names were released due to lack of identification. He was driven to the hospital, but passed away before arriving. Police authorities finally informed our family of the victims name Monday morning when the fingerprints matched Joel’s.
Joel was 21 years old and soon-to-turn 22 on November 21st. He was a brother, a friend to many, but most of all a son. He grew up only having sisters so he had a giant soft spot in his heart that we’ll never forget. He had been employed at Jack in the Box since he was 16 years old and made many close friends throughout the years. A kind, compassionate, and a bit annoying person, but especially the funniest person in the room. He will always remain in the hearts of everyone who knew him.
