Funeral Expenses for Celina Garcia Ortega

You may know Celina Garcia Ortega from her long time work at Cherry Growers. She worked there for many years before her retirement. Celina couldn’t stay away from helping with the fruit harvest and was working at The Dalles Fruit Company at the time of her passing. She and her husband planned to finish this last cherry harvest and move to their hometown in Cojumatlan, Mexico.

Unfortunately, Celina passed away unexpectedly this afternoon, 7/6/2022, just 1 month shy of her 66th birthday.

As everything happened without warning, we unfortunately aren’t prepared for her funeral expenses. As a family we have started a fundraiser to help cover her funeral. We would like to finish her wish and take her back to her hometown to lay her to rest. This is a very expensive process as we will be accumulating expenses from the local funeral home up until immigration allows her remains to be sent to Mexico. Once we get her to Mexico we will have the expense of her burial. She will be laid to rest with her family as she so wished.

If you didn’t know Celina, you probably knew her husband of over 40 years, Jose Ortega. He worked at Orchard View farms for many years before his recent retirement. They raised their four children in this community and now have grandchildren growing up here as well. Her children Lalo, Leo, Sonia and Cecy Ortega are all hard working people. Unfortunately her unexpected passing has created a hardship for this local family.
