Funeral expenses for Alain Mubalama's son

Donation protected
Friends,

As some of you may know, our tree planting brother Alain Mubalama's son died in a car accident in the Montreal suburbs over the Christmas holidays. He was 25.

We can't fix the hurt that will stay with Alain forever, but maybe we can make the immediate situation a little easier to bear. Death is expensive - funerals, fees, logistics, flights - it's a lot to handle and over the Christmas season there are already a lot of demands on our money.

I've spoken with Alain, and though he's not asking for anything he would appreciate any support we might give.

Tree planters are interesting folk. A lot of us felt like we didn't fit in, until we found family in the bush camp. We shared food together, sweat up mountainsides together, watched the Raptors together, and that companionship brought us comfort. But I'm starting to realize that families aren't just about companionship. Families support each other when everyone else disappears. Families show up.

Maybe you're hurting too, and can't afford much. That's OK. But if you're feeling Alain's hurt and wish there was some way you could help, consider chipping in a few bucks to this campaign.

I'm going to make to make the deadline pretty quick for this, since the funeral occurred on Dec. 30. If you're thinking of giving, give now.
