Memorial Costs for Patricia Folds

We recently lost Patricia “Patti” Folds --- mother, sister, daughter, friend, and dedicated clinical therapist --- to an aggressive form of cancer that had metastasized and spread rapidly to her brain. Having been told last year of the disease’s discovery during a routine check for internal injuries after an automobile accident, she immediately entered into aggressive treatment that resulted in remission last autumn. During her fight, due to the number of days she had to take from work for treatment, she was released from her position as a Veterans’ Therapist, a role in which she counseled veterans with P.T.S.D. Though Patti no longer had insurance or employment, she felt blessed to have beaten her cancer, no matter the costs.
With a plan to return to her life-long passion for the care of others, Patti threw herself into the endeavor of opening a joint practice with another therapist. She had such joy during the planning stages for the practice and was energized by her hard-earned, clean bill of health. Before her dreams could be actualized, a routine follow-up appointment with her oncologist revealed that the cancer had returned with a vengeance, leaving her with less than a year of life. Barely six months later, asserting her preference for at-home hospice, she passed away, her son and husband by her side.
Patricia never got the opportunity to enroll in an insurance plan through a new business, and she did not have life insurance. She and her husband, John, depleted savings in order to ensure she had proper care during her remaining time on earth. Now, in an effort to honor the joyous and passionate life she led by laying her to rest with dignity, her family is humbly asking for your assistance in order to allay the costs of visitation and graveside services. We are grateful for any contribution you can make at this time. If funds raised are in excess of those required for laying Patty to rest, they will be donated to The National Cancer Institute.
