Funeral costs for Marek Gwinner

Hi, my name is Anita Gwinner and I have been reached out by several people to start a fundraiser. My amazing dad and more amazing grandfather to my children has sadly passed away on the 14th May 2023, he left his daughter, grandchildren, son in law, his wife, mother, brothers, sisters, other family members and so so many friends who all truly cared for him and loved him so much. We are fundraising to help cover costs of funeral and as many people knew, my dad was born in Poland so we would love help to cover costs to transport my dad to Poland for a funeral in Poland and to be with his loved ones. It’s important for his family in Poland to get to attend his funeral and we could hold a memorial for my dad for all of his friends, wife, daughter and grandchildren to attend in Grimsby.

My dad was a very strong man and a very loving person, he loved everybody so much and always tried to help out as much as he could. He would always help everyone else before he helped himself. My heart breaks that my dad will no longer be here to live his life and watch myself and my children grow up and see our most important moments. He had so many years ahead of him and so many memories infront of him, he had so much happiness waiting for him but he believed differently.

Many men struggle with their mental health and they struggle to speak out, they struggle to get help as so many men believe it is embarrassing to receive help for their mental health. My dad being one of those people, he struggled with his mental health and he suffered so much with mental health the past few months. In 2021 there were a reported of 5219 suicides, this is 307 more suicides more than reported in 2020. The male suicide rate in 2021 was 15.8 per 100,00, compared to the female suicide rate which was 5.5 per 100,000. There is a stigma behind men’s mental health and so many men go into self destruct mode and suffer in silence with their mental health as they are ashamed and scared to be judged. We need to end this stigma somehow that it is okay for men to speak up and reaching out for help will not diminish their masculinity.
