Our beloved family member, Christopher Samuel Bowen, passed away on June 2, 2017.
Chris was a husband, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to many people. He was most passionate about music and played guitar and drums and set up a music room in his home where everyone was encouraged to "try" their hand at playing an instrument or sing a tune.
On May 26, while he and his wife Eva slept in their mobile home in San Jose, someone set fire to his truck that was parked outside the home in their carport. The two autos that belonged to Eva and Chris were burnt to the ground and the fire engulfed the carport and travelled to the adjacent mobile home wall as well.
Although Eva and Chris made it out of the home initially, Chris ran back into the home to save his dogs and he collapsed on the floor just a few steps into the home. Chris went into cardiac arrest and lay on the floor while the firemen tried to put out the fire. Once the paramedics got to him, he had no pulse, was not breathing and was essentially gone.
The rescue workers began CPR and worked on him for 65 minutes -- and did successfully bring back a heart beat. However, 65 minutes with no oxygen or blood flow to the organs and most importantly, to the brain, Chris lay on life support in the hospital until the attending Dr. announced that the brain damage was too extensive for Chris to have any quality of life outside of the hospital.
Within minutes of having the respirator removed, Chris passed peacefully surrounded by his wife and daughter.
The family needs your support for the following expenses:
Cremation of remains; funeral service arrangements; replacement of auto that burned; and repair to the mobile home which is currently uninhabitable.
