Dear Family & Friends,
Moses Gnanashekar spent many years as a nurse manager at a local hospital in Columbia, South Carolina. Besides his medical work, he has had a heart for ministry, caring for the homeless in Columbia as the founder of Zarephath Ministries. He helped transition 77 homeless individuals to homebound. After his retirement, he wanted to return to India as an evangelist. He returned to Bangalore, India, where he started a church in the slums. His ministry work brought him to many villages in the area to preach the gospel. He has also been involved in supporting local pastors by giving to their building funds, purchasing Bibles, and helping with baptisms.
On January 21, 2019, Moses was riding his scooter home when he lost control and hit a car. He suffered serious injury and was left lying on the side of the road bleeding. "A good Samaritan" (The Chief Justice of Karanata) saw Moses and had him admitted to Vikram Hospital in Bangalore. He spent many weeks in the hospital and eventually was able to return to his family in Columbia, SC in spring 2019.
Mr. Moses had to be admitted to the hospital once again in Columbia, SC this spring (2020) due to pneumonia and gall bladder problems. It was a difficult time during quarantine for Mr. Moses to be in ICU and his family unable to visit him for 2 months. After a long and difficult hospitalization, on Thursday, May 28, 2020, Moses Gnanashekar took his last breath on this earth as he was ushered into the presence of His Savior, Jesus Christ.
Due to the previous injury in India and subsequent healing journey he had been on since 2019, Mr. Moses was unable to work, and there is no insurance to cover funeral expenses.
In lieu of giving flowers or meals. family asks for your financial support to help with funeral expenses, as well as to fulfill Mr. Moses last wish. His desire was to meet the needs of the ministry back in India that he began, supporting the slum children & local village pastors.
