Funds to start the schools in Lodja
The sponsor for the Okundji Institute, Marcel Vauthey, died on September 9th, leaving the Okunkji Institute in Lodja, DR-Congo--primary and secondary schools--without a way to furnish classrooms or pay teachers. (Note that I, Margaret Young, have toured Lodja extensively and so have personally seen the need.) School begins on October 6th. We are working urgenly on gathering a minimal amount for now and will be in Lodja in November to help with businesses which can sustain the schools for the rest of the year.
We need just 120 people to give $10. and we can make sure that this village (the largest in the Sankuru province) can get the school year going. When we are there, we will be building a library and teaching the students how to bind their own books. For now, we need only the basics, but we need them desperately.
