Funds to help Mike & Lesley & their miracle baby

Donation protected

My name is Brittany Matwick, Mike and Lesley are like family to me & my family. They never ask for help from anyone, but in this case I took it upon myself to ask for help for them ♥️ Because they deserve it. They’re the kindest people who would give their shirt off their back if you needed it.

Alara is their miracle  baby. From over a decade of infertility and many interventions they were unable to get pregnant. Then around a year after spine surgery a pandemic hit and boom the universe decided it was time and they found out Lesley was pregnant. Other than many unsuccessful ultrasounds they “thought” they had gotten everything they needed and the pregnancy was thankfully fairly uneventful. Up until it was time to have baby girl. There was many miscommunications and a ton of no one knew what was going on. But finally on October 11th at 3:59pm baby Alara was born.
I asked Lesley to do a write up of what is going on

“We don't know a ton at this point.

She was born October 11th at 3:59pm, weighing in at 8lbs10oz. She seemed healthy at birth, but was working a little harder for air than she should be. She was taken to the NICU and given oxygen and put on a CPAP machine while they investigated further.

It appeared that she had a heart murmur, so it was decided that we would stay at the Prince George NICU until the following week, when the pediatric cardiology team would be coming to Prince George from Vancouver Children's Hospital. During the week while we waited, her condition deteriorated and she started having episodes where she would turn blue. After some more tests, it was clear that her little heart wasn't able to properly pump blood and oxygen around her tiny body. In the middle of the night on October 18th, she was transferred by air ambulance to Vancouver Children's Hospital. That morning, we received the news that she had been diagnosed with "Tetralogy of Fallot", a critical congenital heart defect that will require a stent being placed to allow bloodflow through her heart, and then she will need to be closely monitored over the next 6 months, until she is big enough and strong enough to undergo a full corrective open heart surgery. It's unfortunately going to mean lots of doctors' visits, trips to BC Children's Hospital and ongoing medication and care for her. ”

Mike and Lesley own Black Cats BBQ, they do catering and run the concession in the arena in Taylor. Obviously the pandemic has hit them hard, events being cancelled, events not being booked, no patrons are allowed to watch their children at the arena so they’re losing business in that aspect too. With all the travel and care Alara will need I decide to start this GoFundMe to help them out as much as I could.

So please donate if you can and share this regardless.
