Support Mike Brown’s Leukemia Recovery

Hello, my name is Patti. I am a long time friend of Mike's and Grandma to his youngest two children. I have set up a fundraiser for Mike and Aimee, to help with expenses during Mike's medical care in Vancouver. The couple are humble and proud, and did not ask for help, however their situation is serious and dire.

Mike was recently diagnosed with T-lymphoblastic lymphoma. It is a rare blood cancer. His treatment will require he and his partner Aimee relocating to Vancouver for six to seven months. Aimee has two dependent children with complex special needs., making their situation even more challenging.

The family needs a furnished space is to allow Mike to have time outs from the hospital and so he has caregivers nearby.. Mike will be in and out of care but needs remain near the hospital. When Aimee has to go home for a few days,they will also need a bed / room for Mike”s alternate caregiver.. Mike's immune system is extremely compromised and although there are many wonderful resources though the hospital they will not be suitable for him or his caregivers due to his lack of immunity.

Mike is in the hospital starting his first round of chemotherapy, then they will take his bone marrow, he will have a transplant, his lumbar punctured (to prevent the cancer spreading to his brain) and then more chemotherapy. It’s going to be a long road for both these wonderful folks.

The expenses for travel, an apartment near the hospital and maintaining the Nanaimo home will be significant, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mike is a father, step father, talented artist, who is in the worse situation imaginable.

This is a family of givers and helpers, who at this time, need all the help they can get.
