Fundraising for financial literacy.

Over 40 years ago, we created a metaphor for financial stability: 5 buckets, 4 shovels, a beach and a map. The buckets represent your assets, the shovels are your advisors, the beach is your life and the map is your financial plan. And, of course, sand is money. This concept is used to explain financial stability and how, with the right buckets, shovels and map, you can live a comfortable life. We have used this concept to write two financial guides, 5 Buckets, 4 Shovels, a Beach and a Map, which discusses how to achieve financial stability throughout your life and and Adulting 101: A Guide to Personal Finance which explains introductory financial topics such as budgeting, credit, taxes and more. With the intense need for financial literacy in our nation, we created a 501(c)(3) tax exempt nonprofit, the 5 Buckets 4 Shovels Foundation to educate students about financial literacy.

Why should you donate? Financial literacy is shown to reduce poverty, increase educational attainment levels, boost our economy, increase standard of living, decrease crime and reduce wealth inequality. The 5 Buckets 4 Shovels Foundation's mission is to provide financial literacy support for young adults heading into adulthood.

Our ultimate goal is to give 1,000,000 copies of our Adulting 101 book to students through our presentations and to educate them about personal finance.
