Kitchen Photo Update September 1, 2023
Thanks for your continuing generosity.

The faithful of Saints Peter and Paul Orthodox Cathedral form an Orthodox Christian missionary community located in southwest Detroit. As part of our calling to follow the Gospel message of Jesus Christ, we have been hosting a neighborhood meal every Sunday afternoon for the past ten years. This meal is open to everyone and provides a space for meaningful fellowship between faithful Christians and the broader community. During this time many surrounding church communities and organizations have joined us, preparing food, and serving on Sundays. Please see this link for more information concerning our missionary community: Ss Peter and Paul Orthodox Cathedral Detroit

In 2019 we sold our two-story Community Center (where our missionary ministries took place) and our ministries now reside in our Missionary Center in our Church Campus. These ministries presently include Orthodox Detroit Outreach weekly food distribution, St. Maria Food Pantry and Clothing Closet, St. Herman Children's Ministries, St. Elizabeth End-of-life Ministries, and an enquirer's Study/Library. Here at our Missionary Center, we strive to embody and witness an Orthodox Christian Ethos through the works of Mercy.

Our present center lacks a functioning kitchen. We now make an appeal for your help with the renovation of our new kitchen. As the center of any community, a functioning kitchen is essential to our continued missionary efforts in the inner-city. The new kitchen will serve as the heart of our missionary center, providing a place to prepare food for our various ministries and neighborhood gatherings, serving the men, women, and children of our beloved community of southwest Detroit.

We have been working over the past year on this project, and with unexpected cost increases, we seek your assistance to complete the project. Our goal is to raise $70,000 towards the costs of an exhaust & fire supression system, and the appliances and fixtures still needed to complete the project.

The funds we raise through this appeal will go directly to our kitchen renovation project. We ask that you take a moment to help us, thinking about the positive impact your contribution can make on the lives of so many other people.

Thank you for taking the time to read this short appeal. We hope that you can help us in our missionary efforts. May God bless you and strengthen you.
