We are a couple was leaving on a boat in St. Maarten when hurricane Irma arrived.
We lost our boat: our only home and business, all the equipments, all our personal effect and money.
The US flag Vanity Yacht is victim of hurricane Irma. The Yacht was docked in a marina and secured with 30 (thirty) lines to the main concrete dock and other smaller two docks. But inexplicably the main concrete dock and the other 2 smaller collapsed into the sea leaving the boat drift for 2 miles banging of everything she met on the way until breaking and losing the 2 masts due to a bridge and landing on the rocks, 90% destroyed and with 3 feet of water inside. She was a 45 tons steel yacht and is crazy how she got bended and broken...
This just after we spent all our money to technically renovate and restyled the yacht inside and outside for the new season, losing also a everything we got inside.
The marina management didn’t show up for days after the disaster leaving the place without security and without assistance to all the people was crying and trying to safe something, and then rejected any responsibility about “bad construction” of the docks even if 60% of their concrete docks collapsed into the sea and 95% of the boat docked in their marina got complete destroyed.
The situations in St. Maarten very BAD! No electricity, no water, no phone, no Wi-Fi, no fuel... 70% on land destroyed, 95% of the boat destroyed, and BAD armed people on the streets, curfew and Dutch and French army to patrol and war helicopters..
We want to re-born... any help will be lovely appreciated.
